George "Smitty" Allen Harris, son of George and Esther Harris, was born November 1, 1929, in Mountainair, New Mexico, and passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006, in his home in Seymour, Mo. At the time of his passing he was 76 years of age.
George served in the U.S. Navy and served six years in the Navy Reserve. He was retired from 3-H Enterprises.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd "Buster" Harris.
Survivors include one son, Arlen Harris and wife, Yvette, Marshfield, Mo.; two daughters, Ginny Hammonds, Springfield, Mo., and Christy Harris, Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Raymond Harris and wife, Alma Lee, the State of Oregon, and Herman Harris and wife, Patty, Marshfield, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a host of family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Harris will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2006, in Day Funeral Home, Marshfield, Mo. Burial will be in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy and Veteran's Memorial Team, Springfield, Mo. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in the funeral home chapel.
