In The Name of God Amen, I, John Hartsfield of the State of North Carolina, Wake Co. being of sound and perfect mind and memory, Blessed be God. Do this the fourth day of April in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and twenty one. Make and publish this my last will and testament in mannor following that is to say: First I give and bequeath, To my beloved son Andrew all the Land lying in the fork of Hair Snipes Creek and Redy Branch and also I giveunto him a negro boy by the name of Willis, one of Creseys' children to him and his heirs forever. Secondly I give and bequeath unto my beloved son John all the land lying on the east side of the Redy Branch and Hairsnipes Creek and including the ninety three acres of land which I bought of James and Richard Davis. And also I give unto him a negro boy by the name of Hardy one of Creseys children to him and his heirs forever: Thirdly I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Ciddy one negro girl by the name of Celey and her increase: to her and the heirs of her boddy forever: Fourthly I give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Kedy one negro girl by the name of Sarah and her increase, to her and the heirs of her boddy forever: Fifthly I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Biddy one negro girl by the name of Temsy and her increase to her and heirs of her boddy forever: Sixthly I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Richard all the land lying on the west side of Hare Snipes Creek which includes my improvements and, also my hundred acre track which does lyes seperate from the rest, and also a negro boy by the name of Calvin to him and his heirs forever, Lastly I give unto my beloved wife Polley all the lands and improvements which I have above willed unto Richard during her natural life and then to go to him, and also I give unto her Lun and Cresey during her natural life and then to be sold and the money equally divided among my six children three sons and three daughters and further my will and desire is for Lewis and Chain and her youngest child Bidy and Matthew to be sold and after my just debts are paid my will and desire is for the money to be equally divided among my children and further my will and desire is for my stock of all kinds to be sold after a suffishency is laid of for my wife to cary on a farm to support upon and I hear by make and ordain this my last will and testament in witness where of I the said John Harsfield have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above writen. Signed, sealed, publish and declared, by the said John Hartsfield testator as his last will and testament in the presents of us who were present at the time of signing and sealing there of John Oliver,, Wm Smith Joshua Todd.
