WILL OF ANDREW HARTSFIELD, I

In the Name of God, Amen. I, Andrew Hartsfield of the county of Johnston and province of North Carolina, Planter, knowing the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men once to die - do hereby make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following - that is to say: Principally, I bequeath my soul in the hands of God Almighty who gave it me, not doubting - but my best wishes __________ Will __________ to me again at the day of general resurrection and my body to be buried in a decent and Christian manner at the discretion of my executors, to be hereafter named. And as to what worldly substance it has pleased God to bestow upon me, after paying all my lawful debts and funeral expenses - I have and bequeath it in the following manner:
Imprimatur: I leave and bequeath my two plantations and the tract of land pertaining to them to my three beloved sons Godfrey, Richard, and John to be equally divided among them - only it is my will and desire that the plantation whereon I now live may be included in the share of my son Godfrey; and the plantation whereon Thomas Smith now lives may be included in the share of my son John.
ITEM: I leave and bequeath to my beloved son Godfrey my rough gun and one cow and calf, and one sow and one mare which I formerly gave him.
ITEM: I leave and bequeath to my beloved son Richard my best smooth gun and one cow and calf and one sow and mare which I formerly gave him.
ITEM: I leave and bequeath to my beloved son John my other smooth gun and one cow and calf and one sow, and it is my will and desire that my said son John may have the first colt that my own mare brings.
ITEM: I leave and bequeath to my beloved son Andrew one sow and a mare and colt which I formerly gave him.
ITEM: I leave and bequeath to my beloved daughter Rebecca a horse which I formerly gave her.
ITEM: I leave and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Hartsfield one third part of my whole remaining moveable estate to be by her enjoyed during her natural life.
ITEM: I leave and bequeath the other two thirds of my moveable estate and all my other estate; both real and personal that I have not already hereby disposed of to my following beloved children: Jacob, Mary, Rebecca, Andrew, Sarah and Betty to be equally divided among them.
And I hereby appoint William McElroy and my two beloved sons Jacob and Godfrey executors of this my last Will and Testament revoking all former wills by me made and declaring this to be my only last Will and Testament. Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 18th day of November 1759.
