There is a mistake in this death certificate. The mother of Cordelia Paralee Adair Harris was Frances (Fannie) Gannt, who married Andrew Jackson Adair in Marshall Co MS on 1 October 1857 and was the mother of his eight children, born between 1858 and 1882. Fannie Adair died in 1882, two weeks after the birth of her last daughter, Lula Judson Adair. There was an important family friend named Hargis who probably played a role in helping A. J. Adair care for his orphaned children. When Ed Harris gave the information for his mother’s death certificate he no doubt erred. Indeed, he may not even have known his grandmother’s maiden name.
