BENTON, Ky.--Services for Louie Carlton Massey, 76, of Benton will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton with Dan Sikes and Ralph Rudolph officiating. Burial will be in Armstrong Cemetery in Benton.
Mr. Massey died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Oakview Manor Healthcare Center in Calvert City.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the U.S. Army after World War II. He retired as a captain from the Tennessee Valley Authority public safety office. A member of Maple Hill Church of Christ, he served as an elder for 36 years. He was a member of the Murray Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, he served on the crime council and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Surviving are two daughters, Robin Davis of Gilbertsville and April McNew of Deering, Mo.; one son, Kent Massey of Benton; two brothers, Cliff Massey and Ray Massey, both of West Paducah; three sisters, Louise Neuhausel and Ruby Prince, both of Reidland, and Evelyn Trichel of Prairieville, La.; five grandchildren, Andrea Davis of Gilbertsville, Adam Davis of Calvert City, Daimon McNew of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Roman McNew of Deering, Mo., and Jessie Massey of Benton; and one great-grandchild, Drake McNew of Fort Leonard Wood.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbye Armstrong Massey; and three brothers. His parents were Noah Massey and Opal Clemens Massey.
