OBITUARY5048Last rites were held at the First Methodist Church of Shamrock Monday morning for Henry Clay Lyle, former local resident, who passed away at his home in Long Beach, Calif., on Sunday morning, April 11, 1943.
Rev. Marvin B. Norwood, Methodist pastor, was in charge of the services, and pallbearers were Hubert Tindall, Fred Holmes, J.H. Caperton, Bill Walker, S.Q. Scott and H.P. Mundy. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Koger, D.F. Spruill, B.F. Kersh, R.F. Douglas, H.B. Hill, S.W. Norwood and M. Reynolds. Interment was in the Shamrock cemetery by Nix Funeral Home.
Mr. Lyle, 79 years old, was the father of Mrs. B.F. Holmes of this city, T.J. Lyle and H.C. Lyle, Jr., of Amarillo, and W.H. Lyle of Sudan. His widow of Long Beach, also survives.
He was a pioneer merchant of Shamrock, having operated a mercantile store here more than 30 years ago. He moved to Long Beach to make his home 20 years ago.
His death followed an illness that had lasted since before Christmas.
