Obituary
4654

Died on Sunday September 1st at her residence near Camp Branch Church, in this county of typhoid fever, Mrs Martha Jones, widow of John Jones, who was a son ot Asa Jones, in the 52nd year of her age. The subject of this notice was married in 1853, and left a widow with eight children, all under ten years ot age in 1863, by the misfortunes of war, as her husband contracted tho disease witch terminated his life by exposure incident to the soldier’s life, with scarcely any means lor the support of herself and family. By industry and economy she reared her children and gave them some educational advantages. She was a faithful and consistent christian, a member of the Methodist church, an affectionate mother, a kind neighbor, and a steadfast friend. During her long illness of four weeks, she did not murmur or complain, but rejoiced in that Savior wlio makes the "dying bed as soft as downy pillows are.” As a christian she lived, and as a christian she died, havling a full assurance of her acceptance with God, and only regretting leavoing her children behind. Thus passed away one of the earth’s heroines, a model mother and christian. Let her memory be sacredly cherished.
