Daughter of James Monroe Thornton and Sarah Ann DeLoach Killebrew.
The death of Mrs. Robert Emmons occurred at the home of her son, Winfred Emmons of Sikes last Monday evening.
At the time of her death Mrs. Emmons was 81 years of age. She had been in ill health for about five years but on account of her advanced age was unable to regain her strength.
She leaves four [sic six] children and several grandchildren among whom are Houston Gates and Miss Ruby Gates of Winnfield who will miss her kindly, gentle presence and her wise counsel. She was a devoted mother and a strong christian character.
Funeral services were conducted at the Mineral Springs Church Tuesday afternoon by Rev. A. H. Cullen, pastor of the Baptist Church of Winnfield. A large number of friends and relatives attended the last sad rites.4632
