Mrs. E. V. Bearden Loses Life When Car Turns Turtle

Driving in the rain and with car headlights not burning, proved fatal to Mrs. E. V. Bearden, 29, at 7 p. m. last night, when the auto suddenly skidded on the highway and turned turtle. The woman sustained a fractured skull which caused instant death. The accident occurred three miles out on the Eros road near Cheniere and not far from the home of the Beardens. At the time, the only occupants of the car were Mr. and Mrs. Bearden. The husband escaped injury.
With assistance, the body of the woman was removed from the wreckage and as life was already extinct, it was taken to the Bearden home.
This morning Coroner C. L. Mengis visited the scene of the accident and returned his report, the findings being according to the information offered by the husband.
Mrs. Bearden is survived by her husband and by three children who are J. A. aged 8; Thomas, aged 5 and a baby boy two years of age. Mrs. Bearden’s mother, Mrs. Jim Hammonds, also survives.
The funeral was held at the residence this afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment was in the McCormick cemetery.
