Roy Gilchrest, Nightwatchman, Dies Wednesday4344 Charley Roy Gilchrest Gatesville nightwatchman, died at 4:15 a. m. Wednesday in the local hospital shortly after he was stricken ill while making his patrol rounds in the downtown area. Mr. Gilchrest was 65, and his death was attributed to a heart ailment.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday in Scott's Funeral Horne chapel and were conducted by Rev. George Siler. Burial was in, Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Gilchrest was born at Leesville Sept 17, 1902. He was married to Miss Pearl Bailey on Dec. 25, 1920. They lived in Moody until 1942 and had lived in Gatesville since. He had been the city nightwatchman nearly five years.
Mr. Cilcrest was a member of the Methodist Church. 
Survivors are his wife of Gatesville; two sons, Charles D. Gilchrest of Fort Worth and Garnett Gilchrest of Pine Bluff, Ark.; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Isbell of Temple and Mrs. Othel Dyson and Mrs. John W. Jones, both of Rt. 3, Gatesville; three brothers, C. C. Gilchrest and W. M. Gilchrest both of Waco, and Louie Gilchrest of Adamsville; two sisters, Mrs, Mae Spence of Gatesville and Mrs. Lettie Crawford of Odessa; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gilchrest Dies In Temple; Rites Held Here4345 Mrs. Roy (Pearl) Gilchrest. a former Gatesville resident, died Thursday in a Temple nursing home. She was 76. 
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Friday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Plez Todd officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery. 
Mrs. Gilchrest, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bailey, was born in Moody Feb. 8. 1900, and was reared in that community. She was married to Roy Gilchrest on Dec. 25, 1920, in Moody, They lived in Moody and Oglesby before moving to Gatesville in 1942. Mr. Gilchrest died in 1968. 
Mrs. Gilchrest moved from Gatesville to Temple two years ago. 
She was a member of the old Keener Chapel Methodist Church. 
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Isbell of Temple, Mrs. Simon (Belmarie) Dyson of Grand Prairie and Mrs. John (Lavetta) Jones of Belton; two sons. Darrell Gilchrest of Fort Worth and Garnett Gilchrest of Pine Bluff. Ark.; one brother, Charlie Bailey of Moody; four sisters, Mrs. Oma Holder of Houston, Mrs. Nellie Guthrie of Troy, Mrs. Thelma Harrison of Waco and Mrs. Sadie Lasly of Houston; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. 
Pallbearers for Mrs. Gilchrest's funeral were Charles Melton, Garnett W. Gilchrest. Lonnie Ray Gilchrest, Keith Raynick and Charles Gilchrest Jr.
