EDWARDSVILLE - Clarence B. Barton, 78, of 301 North Clay, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home.
An Edwardsville contractor for the past 35 years, he was a former resident of Bertrand, Mo. He was born Nov. 19, 1884 at Mayfield, Ky., a son of the late B. G. Barton and Bargara Hodges Barton. He was married to the former Miss Ethel Jeffries, who diet in March of 1949.
Five sons survive: J. Fred Barton and Harold (Buzz)) Barton both of Edwardsville; Lyman A Barton and Barbara Hodges Barton, Bloomington, Ill., and C. Lamar Barton, Sarasota, Fla. There are 18 surviving grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sister and a brother: Norb Barton and Mrs. Lena Ponder, both of Donlphan, Mo.; Mrs. Carrie Withrow Houston, Texas; and Mrs. Ova Moore, Tulsa, Okla.
He was affiliated with the Baptist Church.
Friends may call after 2 p.m Thursday at the Weber Funeral Home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, interment wii: be in Valley View. Cemetery.
