Alice Haywood, 87, of Gumbo, died March 17 at her home. She was born Sept. 11, 1898 in Reynolds County to the late John P. and Hattie Robbs Carter.
Mrs. Haywood was a member of the Gumbo Church of God.
She Is survived by six children: Iva Wells, of Elvins, Virginia Hitt, of Eugene, Oregon, Winston G. Haywood, Earl G. Haywood and Aliene Harbison, all of St. Louis and Wesley E. Haywood, of Eugene, Oregon; one brother, Ben S. Carter, of St. Louis; three sisters: Lela Russel, of Piedmont, Lilly Rosa, of Imperial and Emili Martin, of Piedmont; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call S p.m. today at the C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Desloge. Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Boyer Chapel with Rev. Randell Jarvis officiating. Burial will be In the Piedmont Masonic Cemetery.
