Bio from public web page:3547

He lived his young life in Junction and later in rural Kimble County, coming from a Ranching family but sometimes residing in Junction with relatives (John A Browning) during school. He finished high school and attended Junior College at Schreiner Institute {now University} in Kerrville. After marriage he tried ranching in 1927 near Hunt, TX at Arrowhead {now a youth camp} owned by his father in-law. His father helped Roquey and his brother Don go into ranching between Marble Falls and Burnet, Texas, in 1929-30 where they raised goats. This was a disaster when all the goats died. After his third child was born in 1930 Roquey joined in his father in-law's { Dr. P. J. Domingues MD } business, the Kerrville Drug Company in downtown Kerrville. He managed this business (after his divorce in 1941) for some years, then established a retail liquor business elsewhere in the community. In the early 1950's Roquey developed cirrhosis and his health began declining. He was ultimately hospitalized and after leaving the hospital he married again in 1959. He then moved to Houston where he opened a laundromat and remained for only a few years. Following his fathers death in 1964 and with a small inheritance, he moved to Marlin, bought some land and raised some cows. His wife was employed at the Veterins Hospital. Following the death of Noble Jobes in 1972, John Jobes purchased Noble's ranch near Segovia & Mountain Home, Texas. Roquey moved here for a few years until the ranch again sold. Roquey moved back to Kerrville (South) and remained inactive the rest of his life with very poor health while his wife Rose continued in her nursing profession. Following his death in 1982, which was a result of kidney failure, he was cremated. Probate Docket No 8328 filed 19 Oct 1982.

The disposition of his ashes is uncomfirmed but one report relates they were spread out over the old Doug Jobes Ranch at Segovia ... perhaps by HD Jobes.

Roquey enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite fishing spot was on the Moss place between Llano and Fredericksburg where he fished a lot with Mr Sullivan. He was a very good shot when hunting.

The origin of the name Roquey is not known. It was said that his mother liked unusual names and named her son Roquey George Jobes after a casual acquaintance who's name was Roquey George. Of recent date the name of a man "Roquey Marmaduke George" has been found on Ancestry.com. He was born 1875 to Bowen Knox and Jerusha (Moffett) George in Kerr County - he married 1898 to Pauline Paralee Beard in Kerr County TX. Roquey George was a carpenter and must
have crossed paths at sometime with the parents of Roquey Jobes - the name is too unusual for there to be another Roquey George.

Roquey married, first, Alice Lee Domingues, daughter of Polycarp Joseph Domingues MD and Evelyn Martha Bowman, 7 Jan 1927, at ST Patricks Ch, San Antonio, Bexar Co., TX. Divorce, 1941, in Kerrville, Kerr Co., TX.

He married, second, Agnes Rosie Franks "Rose" 5 Aug 1959?, in Texas. 6 Jun 1965 (??)in Texas. Her family origin was Yugoslavia - She had a male child before the Jobes marriage.
