Notes for Hannah Fort
HANNAH FORT2106 was born 1705 or earlier and by 1724 had married John Phillips of Surry County, Va. John, tentatively, was the son of William Phillips who died 1720-21 in Surry County. There is some uncertainty over their later whereabouts and descent, but it seems probable that John Phillips and Hannah remained in Virginia in either Surry, Isle of Wight, or Southampton counties. John had at least one child-Hannah Phillips-who married Thomas Davis of Southampton County; Thomas died in September, 1776, pre-deceasing his father (also named Thomas Davis) who died in 1778. Thomas and Hannah Davis are known to have had: a) Ann Davis, who married a Mr. Thorpe, son of John Thorpe; b) Elizabeth Davis; c) Phillip Davis, who married Elizabeth Heath and was a Revolutionary War soldier. John Phillips and Hannah Fort Phillips are also believed to have been the parents of John Phillips (Jr.) who married Lucy, sister of Thomas Davis (above). Further descent of this Phillips family is not available.
