Johann Karbach was first married to Wilhelmina Hagemeister, with whom he had three sons and two daughters. Wilhelmina died in 1833 and Johan remarried, to Maria Carolina Mewe. The couple had four sons and four daughters. It appears that all but the two youngest daughters were born in Germany. Sophia and Emilie Karbach were born in Texas. The family immigrated, landing in Indianola, TX, on 23 Nov 1846.3202
