2842Joseph entered the Navy on 9 Dec 1814 and served on HMS Brilliant, a 38-gun frigate, fifth rate, for 8 years and 6 months.  HMS Brilliant launched from Deptford on 28 December 1814 and carried a crew of 284.  In 1835, he was given a pension of 18 pounds for service in the Navy.
