Claude Heathcock and Beatrice Cooper married in 1931. They had 6 children: Beverly Claudette; Sandra Lou; Shirley Ann; Michael Val; Lana Beth; and Stephanie Carol. Claude Heathcock's parents were Peter Henry Heathcock and Sarah Jane Samford. Peter Henry's parents were William Henry Heathcock and Martha Samford. Claude and Beatrice Heathcock lived in Pemiscot County, Holland, Missouri until 1955 when they moved to Mt. Zion, Illinois. Claude was an educator and finished his career in teaching at Mt. Zion, Illinois. Beatrice Heathcock died in 1981 and Claude Heathcock died in 1988. Claude had a number of siblings, including Lula Belle Mayhem (deceased) of St. Louis, Missouri; Viva Elizabeth Martin (deceased) of Southeast Missouri.

Claude L. Heathcock, 80, of Decatur died 11:34 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 19, 1988) in St. Mary's Hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memoials: American Heart or Amerian Lung Association.

Mr. Heathcock was born in Holland, Mo., son of Peter Henry and Sarah Jane Heathcock. He was a retired Missouri school administrator, Mount Zion history and social studies teacher and wrote two textbooks on the United States Constitution. He was a member of Sunnyside Church of Christ and active in many civic and professional organizations. He married Beatrice Cooper in 1929. She died in 1981. He married Lorraine Widner in 1983.

Surviving are his wife; son, Michael of Sonora, Calif.; daughters, Mrs. Tom (Beverly) Reeves of Ukiah, Calif.; Mrs. Farrell (Sandra) Till and Mrs. Charles (Stephanie) Hammond, both of Canton; Mrs. Jim (Shirley) Hunk of Decatur; Lana Ekiss of Bridge-ton, Mo.; stepson, Kent Mooney of Colorado Springs, Colo.; stepdaughter, Mrs. Ken (Carol) Rutkowski of Grand Haven, Mich.; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren.

Three brothers, four sisters and one grandchild preceded him in death.
