THOMAS GOODBREAD2191son of Phillip, Jr. and Catherine (Souder) Goodbread, was born on Cumberland Island, Camden Co., GA about 1787 and died in Glynn Co. GA about 1869. He married Elizabeth Harriett, maiden name not known, born about 1785 in Maryland. Thomas Goodbread was granted 500 acres in Camden Co. on Cumberland Island 8 Dec. 1815. Thomas is on the 1840 census Camden Co., showing he was indeed living on Cumberland Island. After 1840 he moved to Glynn County, where he acquired land and lived until his death. Camden Co. deeds show a deed of gift of two slaves from his father, Phillip Goodbread, on 1 Apr. 1820 and four slaves to Phillip Goodbread, minor son of Thomas on 4 Nov. 1819 (Deed Bk K, p 308). Thomas Goodbread served in the War of 1812 in Lt. Scott's detachment of Camden Co. Militia from 15 Jan. to 5 Mar. 1815.
