Sinia Huff was born on an island in Cocke Co TN ca 1795. Sinia married a man 10-11 years her junior, James Ellington, who was supposedly more interested in her inheritance, a sock of gold coins, than love. They were married ca 1827, in Newport TN, but being married to an adventuror, Sinia came to the area of Arcadia MO, then settling in Reynolds Co MO, where the city of Ellington was later named for her. James was supposedly killed while prospecting for gold in California. Sinia remained in Missouri and most of Reynolds Co MO can claim some sort of family tie to her descendants.299
