SNYDER - Funeral services for Wanda Hamilton Jones, 76, of Snyder, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ, Snyder, with Perry O'Dell, Church of Christ Evangelist, Rev. Joe Mac Floyd, Pastor of Southside Baptist Church, Snyder, and Mike Hinton, Snyder, officiating.
Mrs. Jones died Wednesday in a Lawton hospital.
Burial was in Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder, under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Snyder.
The family greeted friends at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home for a "Celebration of Life" prior to the funeral.
Wanda was born February 1, 1928 in Beckham County, Oklahoma to Frank Cisco and Gertrude Mae (Bliss)
Chavedo. She married Charles (Dock) Hamilton on October 28, 1946, in Wellington, Texas. He died February 20, 1998. She later married Leo Jones on June 17, 2001. She was a Seamstress for many years, and had worked for many clothing manufacturers. He was a caregiver, a lady of action and lived to help people. She was a member of the Snyder Church of Christ.
Survivors include: husband, Leo Jones of the home; two daughters, Charlene and husband, Jon Bower, Snyder, Okla. and Arlene Riley and friend, Alan Bennett of Pottsboro, Texas; two sisters, Naomi "Bug" Kemper of Springfield, Ore. and Eula Mae "Pete" Cole of Wheeler, Texas; stepson, Leon Jones, Snyder, Okla.; four grandchildren, Mellissa Hayslip of Rogersvile, Mo., Shane Riley of Durant, Okla., Allison Patrick of Rosehill, Va. and Rebecca Pate of Mountain Home, Idaho; eight great-grandchildren, Kendall Hayslip, Kyle Hayslip, Rafa Pinto, Shaun Patrick, Makayla Patrick, Caitlyn Patrick, Ashlyn Morris Liam Pate.
She was preceded in death by brother, Joe
Chavedo; four sisters, Juanita Vines, Lila Kemper, Frankie Joslyn and Ellen Phillips and an infant child, Elizabeth.
Note: Rebecca did not remarry after the death of Dock Hamilton, but for the last three years of her life she did have a “significant-other” relationship with Leo Johes, which presumably explains the name given in the foregoing obituary.
