Notes for Velma Margaret Hastings
PORT LAVACA1991 - Velma Massey, 93, of Port Lavaca passed away April 25, 2008 in College Station. She was born Oct. 11, 1914, in Nockenut Community in Wilson County, to the late Clyde and Dora Hastings.
She graduated in 1935 from the San Marcos Teachers College. She started her teaching career in Goliad County at the Albrecht School in 1936. From there she also taught in Wilson County, Fort Bend County, Karnes County, Matagorda County, Harris County, and retired teaching in Calhoun County in the late 1970s.
She is survived by her son, William C. Massey of Hempstead; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Massey of Madisonville; her grandsons, Heath Massey of Alpine and Byron Massey of Madisonville; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Bill Massey and her parents. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. today in Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home.
