Luke Dees, one of the sons of Sampsort Dees #31 by his first marriage, was probably b. ca. 1785-90, and d. in Calloway Co., Ky. in 1848. He was a Methodist minister, and Mrs. George Coryell states that his son Henry was founder of the Dees Bank in Murray, Ky. Old Bethel Cemetery in Calloway Co., Ky. contains a tombstone with the following inscription: "Rev. Luke Dees, a pioneer Methodist Preacher, who departed this life in 1848. Marker erected by his son, S.H.Dees."1661
