Aged Pioneer Woman of Western Kentucky Dies1467Mrs. Rachel Catherine Dees, 90 years old, one of the earliest residents of western Kentucky, died October 3 at the home of her son R. H. Dees, Calvert City. She was widely known in this part of the state.
Mrs.Dees was born In Birmingham, Marshall county, in 1830, and had resided in this section all of her life. She was the widow of Sampson Dees, a pioneer Kentucky citizen. Mrs. Dees was a member of the Methodist church.
Surviving are four sons, L.S. Dees, or Reidland. Texas; R.H. Dees: of Calvert City; E.C. Dees, of Clarence, Mo., and E. W. Dees, Byers, Texas. Thirty-one grandchildren, thirty-eight great grand-children survive. Mrs. Cynthia Walker of Grand Rivers, is a sister.
