According to an online family group page for the Covert family, she was the third of ten children of Teunis Janse Covert and Barbara Lucas Van Kessel.
1404 It seems that the 5th child, a sister named Agaha Teunise Covert, was born in Brooklyn in 1652, so the Covert family appears to have immigrated about then. An account of the family says that the parents immigrated in 1651, leaving behind their first four children, who came over in 1653.
1408i Powell Hoff born Brooklyn, N.Y., married Rachel Stiles.
ii Pieter Hoff born circa 1678.
iii Teunis Hoff born circa 1679, Brooklyn, N.Y.
iv Johannes Hoff Bp. 23 May 1680, Brooklyn, N.Y. Twin to Wilhelmus Hoff.
v Wilhelmus Hoff Bp. 23 May 1680, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Aechtje probably died from complications of birth of her twins in 1680. Some sites give her date of death as 23 May 1680, which was the baptismal date of her twins.
In his will of 1722, proved 22 Dec 1730 at Maidenhead, Hunterdon Co, NJ, Dirck listed heirs as: William; Richard; Thomas; Powell; John; Charles; Joseph; Benjamin; Sarah ANDERSON; Mary GARY, and Sarah (prob. the wife). Pieter was mentioned in the will, but only as a minor debtor to the estate. An early researcher noted that all the children seemed to be of age in 1722, as no guardianship records were found. In 1741, Charles, Thomas, Powell, and John HOFF were freeholders available for jury duty in Trenton twp. Powell and Thomas HOFF were in Maidenhead twp, and this Powell and Thomas are believed to be the sons.
1405However another interpretation of the will is that both Sarah’s were called daughters.
1406 However, the opinion has been expressed that this was an error.
