Rites Set Today For Mrs. Lou Burford, 78

Final services for Mrs. Lou Burford, 78-year-year area resident since 1900, who died in West Texas hospital Friday of a heart ailment, will be held at 3 p. m. today.

Services will be held in the Broadway Church of Christ with Dr. M. Norvei Young, minister, officiating. Burial wiii oe in the City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral home.

Mrs, Burford lived at 2403 Twenty-fourth.

Mrs. Burford, widow of L. O. Burford who died in 1932, suffered a broken hip in a fall in her home about three weeks ago. The hip healed, but complications developed, affecting her heart.

She and her husband came here in a covered wagon and settled in the Acuff community 15 miles east of Lubbock where he began farming.

A five-generation photograph including Mrs. Burford and her great-great grandchild recently appeared in the Avalanche-Journal.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs, O. E. Rush and Mrs, G. C. Davis, both of Lubbock; three sons, W. O. of Lazbuddy, Emmett and Raymond of Lubbock; a brother, Ed Baldridge of Abilene; a sister, Mrs. John Matthews of Lubbock; 23 grandchilrdren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Grandchildren will be pallbearers.
