MICHAEL LAWRENCE HOPTAY
ALAMO Lt. Col. Ret. Michael Lawrence Hoptay, 83, passed away February 22, 2004. Col. Hoptay proudly served the USAF for 29 years. He was a longtime resident of the Rio Grande Valley and a supporter of the Weslaco Elks Lodge #2057. Col. Hoptay served as a trustee for the Texas State Elks Association.
He is survived by his loving wife, Daisy Hoptay of Alamo; his son, Michael Hoptay, daughter-in-law, Sharyn Hoptay, grandson Joshua and granddaughter, Ashley, all of Dallas; and his brothers, John Hoptay of Chicago, Ill., and Joseph Hoptay of Albany, N.Y.
Friends who wish may make memorial contributions in Col. Hoptay’s name to the Texas Elks Children’s Services, Rt. S. Box 185, Gonzales, TX 78629-9613 or to the American Institute for Cancer Research, 1759 R. Street NW, P.O. Box 97167, Washington, DC 20090-7167.
