PHILLIP R. GOODBREAD,55 - son of Phillip and Nancy (Webb) Goodbread was born about 1820 in Burke Co., NC. He received his Headright of 1/3 League of Land as a single man 19 Feb. 1938. This first class certificate went to his surviving brothers and sisters in 1870, who patented land in Wilson, Karnes and Gonzales Counties. His sister Mary Louisa Lightfoot was granted letters of Administration on the estate of her brother, Phillip R. Goodbread, deceased, in Montgomery County 29 Mar. 1870. Phillip was said to have been a Texas Ranger, but the records in the Texas State Archives show no service for him.
