SARAH GOODBREAD,57 daughter of John and Mary (Ledbetter) Goodbread, was born about 1780 in Rutherford Co. NC. She married her first cousin Walton Ledbetter, son of Capt. George and Elizabeth (Walton) Ledbetter. Capt. George Ledbetter and Mary Ledbetter, wife of John Goodbread were brother and sister. Walton was born about 1775 in VA, and died in 1866. Between 1810 and 1824 Walton and Sarah Ledbetter moved to Tennessee where several of their children were born, but later moved back to North Carolina after several of their children were killed by Indians. In 1850 Walton and Sarah are on the McDowell Co., NC census.
Walton Ledbetter's father, George Ledbetter was a Captain in the American Revolution and commanded a company under Col. Andrew Hampton at the battle of Kings Mountain. He served as a Justice of Peace in Rutherford County for a number of years.
Walton and Sarah (Goodbread) had six children on which we have records;

<4> George Washington Ledbetter;
<5> Catherine Ledbetter born about 1817, married John Lyda;
