Notes for Susie F. Lay
Susie Lay died suddenly during the night. At the time, she was sleeping in the same bed with Frances Elizabeth Lay, who discovered her body when she woke in the morning. Frances was 15 years old at the time.
221Newspaper clipping belonging to Mabel Harris Lay (newspaper unknown): LAY–Miss Sue F. Lay, aged 48 years, died in this city Sunday night. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Nannie Lay, and brother, J. L. Lay of this city; brother, Charles G. of Fort Worth, and three sisters, Mrs. O. J. Tuschka of Arizona, Mrs. Richard Wells of Lavernia, and Mrs. Roland Treon of San Benito. Services will be held at Porter Loring’s Mortuary Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, following which the body will be taken overland to Lavernia, Tex., for interment.
Susie Lay was diabetic and never married.
